Voice Chatbots

The number of potential applications for voice interfaces for chatbots is nearly unlimited. Today, we want to take a look at a few that are likely to dominate our modern world.

Service Kiosks

Some economists and others are fearful that robots are going to take over a lot of the human labor that is currently available in our modern economy. If that is a justified fear or not is up to the individual reader to decide, but the fact that chatbots are likely to play a larger role in our economy is hard to dispute according to QSR Magazine:

With chatbots becoming mainstream, several industries are utilizing them as they offer greater and less intrusive opportunities when it comes to customer engagement (esp. hyper connected millennials). It is only a matter of time before chatbots in restaurants make their way to the forefront.

It is highly expected that numerous restaurants of both the fast-food and casual dining variety will begin to use service kiosks with voice interfaces to allow customers to place their orders. This is expected to cut down on human error and labor costs for the restaurants themselves.

Mobile Smartphone Chatbots

Cruise along any interstate for long enough and you are bound to see drivers using their smartphones in some hands-free way. They are interacting with one of the most well-known chatbots in existence. That being Apple’s Siri. This chatbot can help someone load up directions to where they are going, great places in town to eat, or just about any other piece of information they may require while traveling.

Human-Looking Robots?

Have you ever dreamed of living in a ”Star Wars” type world in which robots interact with us on an almost face-to-face basis? Well, that future is not far away. Robots are already in the works that can read stories to your children, help you take out the garbage, and even be a personal companion for you. Each of these will use verbal chatbot technologies to perform the variety of tasks that they will be called upon to do.

Research suggests that we are all a lot more comfortable interacting with chatbots in our daily lives. Thus, it is only a matter of time until some of these new technologies come to pass.
